Welcome
from the Director
As the Director of the Clean Energy Research Centre (CERC), I am very excited about the future for energy related research and development within Applied Science and the University. There is little doubt that energy is one of the most important challenges facing humanity in the 21st century and we need to be engaged in a significant way.
Since the official opening of CERC on November 1st, 2006, the Centre has made significant progress. Our Centre's focus has grown to include energy demand, energy supply, conservation and efficiency. The CERC membership has increased and includes new membership from other Departments and Faculties to reflect the need for coordinated interdisciplinary input to provide complete solutions to energy problems. Our new Master of Engineering Program in Clean Energy Engineering is continuing to be huge success.
The challenge before us is to build on the centre's growth and continue to advance world-class research and education that will lead us towards the sustainable solutions for energy in the Province of British Columbia, Canada and the world.
